Welcome to the 6th Annual Faculty of Physician Associates virtual conference – a learning experience designed by physician associates (PAs) to guide, support and educate the profession.
The 6th Annual Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA) virtual conference will be held over two days, between 1–2 December 2022 .
Each year, the FPA conference is designed by PAs, and 2022 is no exception. At a time when the profession continues to grow at a rapid rate, PAs are widening their scope of practice and evolving into new specialties. This year’s conference will ensure PAs and PA students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to continue delivering excellent patient care and progress in their roles.
Join us and a field of over 40 experts as we explore a vast range of topics that have all been designed to cater to the unique needs of PAs. Whether you’re a PA who has been qualified for several years or you have just secured your first PA role, the FPA virtual conference promises to deliver a learning experience as unique as the profession.

FPA virtual conference abstract and poster competition
Research can come in many forms and there is growing evidence that clinical research improves patient outcomes and wellbeing. It benefits the overall healthcare system, the wider workforce and patients. We are pleased to invite abstract submissions from both qualified FPA members and PA student members.
Individual and group abstract submissions will be considered and can be related to the following topics:
- projects and/or research projects
- clinical practice
- quality and improvement
- patient care
- COVID-19.
Delegates interested in submitting an abstract are required to download and review the abstract formatting guidelines prior to completing the abstract submission form. The deadline for abstract submissions is has been extended to 23 October 2022. Please submit abstract submissions to [email protected].
Successful applications will be notified by 31 October 2022 and invited to submit a poster. The deadline for successful applicants to submit their final posters will be 18 November 2022.
Prize
All shortlisted posters will be considered by the editorial teams of the Royal College of Physicians journals to see if they offer scope for expanding into full journal articles for publication in one of our peer reviewed journals, Clinical Medicine and the Future Healthcare Journal. The winner and highly commended submissions will also be showcased in an FPA membership newsletter.
Judging panel
Judging the poster competition will be:
- FPA president – Jamie Saunders
- FPA vice president – Chandran Louis
- FPA education committee chair – Amy Donaldson-Perrott
- FPA research committee chair – Silothabo Dliso.
The results of the poster competition will be announced by the FPA president and vice president during the virtual conference on 2 December 2022 (day 2).
FPA virtual conference awards
The Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA) annual awards recognise and celebrate the commitment and achievements of physician associates (PAs) and PA supervisors. The award categories are:
- PA of the year
- PA supervisor of the year
- The PA contribution award.
Nominations are welcomed for PAs and PA supervisors from a primary, secondary and community care settings. To submit a nomination, download the nomination form below.
Nominations will close on 31 October 2022. This year, the judging panel will be:
- Registrar of The Royal College of Physicians – Professor Cathryn Edwards
- FPA president – Jamie Saunders
- FPA vice president – Chandran Louis.
Prize
Each award winner will receive a personalised award from the FPA along with a personalised certificate. Winners will also be showcased in an FPA membership newsletter.
