A leadership update from the Faculty of Physician Associates
The Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA), hosted by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), is the professional membership body for physician associates (PAs) in the UK. As the professional body, the FPA sets the professional standards for physician associates, advises and liaises with other bodies and communicates on matters affecting their work.
On 6 June 2024, FPA president Jamie Saunders and vice president Chandran Louis both resigned from their roles with immediate effect. Jamie and Chandran were elected to their roles by the qualified FPA membership in August 2022. Since then, they have worked in collaboration with the FPA Board driving the profession forward. We thank them for their hard work during their term in office.
The FPA dean Pauline Weir and another FPA Board member also decided to resign from their FPA roles. We thank them for their commitment and wish them all the best.
The remaining FPA Board members would like to reassure members that while they acknowledge that this is a difficult time, members will continue to be supported and continuity remains the focal point. Members will continue to and have access to all of their benefits.
We remain committed to guiding the FPA profession into regulation by the end of the year and will support members as we continue the journey to becoming an independent faculty.
